You can organise your mailbox and make it productive with Stars in Gmail, you’ll be able to tag your inbox messages with multiple coloured stars and other shapes and icons.
As you can see, By default, your Inbox only provides a yellow star but do you know that you also have the choice of tagging messages with other coloured stars and shapes?
It entirely depends on your choices, which icons and colours you use, and how you use them.
For example, you might prefer that your urgent action needed emails to be tagged with a red exclamation mark, the messages you need to read later should be tagged with a yellow star, and emails that have dependencies before replying to be tagged with a purple question mark.
Here is the Step-by-Step Guide to Activate multiple stars and icons, Follow these simple steps:
1. In the upper right corner of the screen, click the Gear Icon(Settings button)
2. From the menu list, click on "See all Settings"
3. Scroll down in General Section and Find Stars Section
4. Here you can find In Used and Not in Used Sections, You can Drag the stars you’d like to use from the Not in Use section to the In Use section. (You can also enable stars using Gmails default presets i.e. 4 Stars or All-Stars)
To tag an email with the star of your choice you need to simply keep clicking the star icon until you find the one you want, and Gmail will rotate through the stars you’ve placed in your In Use section.
You can also apply Star to an email from the compose-box while sending a message, In the New Message (Compose) window and click on the three-dot icon in the lower right-hand corner, click on the Label option, then select Add Star.
You can search Emails with Specific Stars using the Gmail Search box, You must know the star name to search for starred messages in the search box.
In Search Box, type has:<star-name> (For example, has:red-star)
You can find the star name by going to the Star Section in Settings and hovering your mouse over that particular star in the Stars section.
